You're here because you can't stand seeing this:
anymore. Your molars are ground flat and deleting the Forms folder didn't work for you.
You're in luck: a guy who goes by GJBenzie wrote in and provided a solution that worked for my Windows Vista 32-bit and here it is:
2. Type cmd
3. At the prompt, type:
regsvr32.exe /u C:\Windows\System32\MSCOMCTL.OCX
4. Hit Enter
5. Then type:
regsvr32.exe C:\Windows\System32\MSCOMCTL.OCX
6. Hit Enter
Did that work for you?

Got a reply:
DLLRegisterServer in c:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx failed. Return code was: 0x8002801c
Is this because i'm not an admin on my company computer?
Anonymous 2/15/13: You might need to run cmd as an administrator, as you guessed.
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Then right-click on Command Prompt, and select "Run as administrator".
Follow the steps outlined above, and it should work. (I had the same issue as you did, and it worked for me.)
After the last bulk of patches from microsoft, this
procedure didn't work. It has worked every time before, but not this time...
With a x64 machine I found the mscomctl.ocx in the sysWOW64 system directory. Did a unreg - reg and that fixed it all... Thank you!
Just like the comment above, had to go to sysWOW64 for mscomctl.ocx. running windows 7 64-bit running PI Datalink. worked perfectly! Thanks!
