Biotech Manufacturing in Singapore

Amgen is going to build their first Asia plant in Singapore. Here's the link from Amgen.

The current list of Singapore Biotech Companies includes:

• Pfizer
• Roche - Built by Genentech then acquired^{OLY 1/31/13}
• Novartis
• Schering-Plough
• Genentech (Lonza built this)^{OLY 1/31/13}

All these plants are clustered in the Tuas Biomedical Park on the west side of Singapore:

Zooming in, you can see that these plants are basically right next to each other.

... and right next to Malaysia.

I think the Genentech plant cost 290 million and the Roche plant cost 500 million, so if Amgen gets it done for 200 million, that's pretty cheap^{OLY 1/31/13} par for the course.
